“Behold Your Little Ones.”

Emergency Preparedness – “Behold Your Little Ones.”

According to a UN report currently 52,000 children under age eight in third world countries die each day for want of basic living essentials.  That means that through the Savior’s atonement the Celestial Kingdom is expanding by over 18,980,000 souls each year.
Most of the suffering in the world comes from lack of opportunity.  For little children God makes allowances.  The rest of us He blesses with opportunities.  Take all opportunities to provide well for you and your children.  Show the Lord your willingness in small things, and you will be added upon.
Sometimes pride or “not being offered what I’m worth” get in the way of accepting employment opportunities, and we think that we are being treated poorly.  “It’s easier to work your way up from the inside, than to work your way in from the outside,” said one employer.  Whatever the wage offering, you can learn to live better on less.  The Lord has given you an Emergency Preparedness Specialist (ward specialist’s name and phone) to help.  Sometimes you have to ask for help . . . and share your opportunities.

Emergency Preparedness – “A Perfect Love Casteth Out All Fear.”

Most people fear God for the poverty He might see fit to inflict upon them, rather than bargain with Him through faith, tithes, and offerings that bring the needful opportunities that make His saints rich.
“Apply thine heart unto instruction, and thine ears to the words of knowledge.”  (Proverbs 23:12)

Deja Vu, All Over Again.

Emergency Preparedness – Deja vu, All Over Again.

The Book of Mormon gives us over 2,600 years of history showing the struggles of three major civilizations with good and evil and the ultimate loss of the Saviors gospel in the Americas.
In most major wars, the forward edge of the battle area (FEBA) has been on the frontier between two religions . . . Northern Ireland’s Catholics vs. Protestants, Hindus and Muslims in the Kashmir, Christians vs. infidels during the crusades, PLO vs. Jews in Israel, atheists vs. all believers under Nazi Germany or communist Russia and China.  Afghanistan, Bosnia and Vietnam are no exceptions.

Every principle of the Saviors gospel points to service.  All service done in His name should be a reflection of His will.  Personal preparedness requires not only a testimony of His will, but the courage to do His will.  We need to be “. . .doers of the word, not hears only,” and in a service position to be saviors.

My God is Savior of all Heavenly Fathers children.  His sacrifice for sin does not discriminate or eliminate anyone.  He gives us the choice . . . to prepare as Christians, or become Gadiantons.

The battles go on.  Contact your emergency preparedness specialist for help.

Emergency Preparedness – Be Prepared in your Leadership Role

World population (as of 9/18/2004 at 1731 hours) is estimated at 6,393,562,187.  The US population reads 294,306,405 at the same time.  Current LDS Church world-wide population is a little over 12 million.
Currently in Salt Lake City on any given Sunday less than 50% of the members in our stake attend church, around 45% are full tithe payers, and less than one quarter of 1% have a two year supply of self-sufficiency essentials.  Do you see an important leadership something here?
If you are sitting in Church reading this as a full tithe payer with a two year supply in your home you are one in a million (more or less) as an exemplary leader.  There is still a lot of space in the heavens that remains for the rest of us to aspire to if we will just keep working on these earthly basics.

Amzanig, huh?

Tuesday, April 18th, 2006

Aoccdrnig to rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn’t mttaer in what order the ltteers in a wrod are, the only iprmoetnt thing is that the frist and lsat ltteer be at the rghit pclae.  The rset can be a tatol mses and you can still raed it wouthit porbelm.  This is beuseae the human mind deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the word as a wlohe.  Inst that amzanig?

How ever you decide to put your preparedness program together, remember that it is the collection rather than the order of things that is important.  Start somewhere, work a little each day even if it is on just one thing, ask for help from friends and neighbors, and have the faith that you might be able to do more than you thought you could.  One day you just might look at your self-sufficient life and say AMZANIG, HUH?  I CAUGHT THE VISION, GOT FACTS, DEVELOPED SKILLS AND I’M PREPARED.

Vote, To Be “One Nation Under God.”

Tuesday, April 18th, 2006

We are admonished by the Lord to seek good men for public office who will uphold the constitutional laws of the land.  Likewise, the Book of Mormon prompts us to obey the God of this land, which if we do, we will be protected from all other nations under heaven.

How we vote seems to have a lot to do with what we choose to do on Sunday.  Religious leaders of all faiths are encouraging everyone to come back to worship services.  People who spend their Sundays boating, at sporting events, concerts or other entertainment have done little to refresh spiritual powers.  Those who watch TV on Sunday fare even worse.   Commentators quibble about how unfair God-given laws are and sensationalize deviance.  The worst TV programs always seem to be on Sunday.  Few there are who stand aloft from lucrative Sunday contracts in the media or in sports and reverence the day.

Read DC 134, the Lord’s declaration on government, and vote accordingly.  In this nation under God, sovereignty rests with the people.  In America, everyone counts!  . . . unless you don’t vote.

Cecil B. DeMille said it best:  “God gave us our freedom, and then gave us the commandments that we could remain free.”

“One Nation Under God.”

Tuesday, April 18th, 2006

Warned by the Lord of “conspiring men” who would deceive us into darkened paths in the last days, we face ever-increasing challenges to stay connected to the path of light and truth.  The revelation from DC 89 not only refers to the temporal laws of good physical health, but also promises spiritual “treasures of knowledge, even hidden treasures” that are the true course to freedom and life everlasting.

Those who would have you believe God has no place in our nation subtly pause even now and separate Him in our pledge of allegiance.  There is no comma in the statement “ONE NATION UNDER GOD,” only the affirmation that He sent our founding fathers and endorsed their work (DC101:76-80).

This nation under God’s light will not perish, even if this nation is reduced to only one committed citizen . . . YOU.  Be prepared.  You are only as free as your self-sufficiency resources allow you to be.

Procrastination

Tuesday, April 18th, 2006

“I was going to do that tomorrow, but I think that’s too soon.”

Well, that certainly is an attitude, and there are always lots of things holding us back.  You might be the specialist – someone who knows a lot about a little;  or a generalist – someone who knows a little about a lot.  But, what you are not can always be the opportunity for someone else to help you accomplish what you should.

“Every seed sown brings a harvest, every thought becomes a seed.

As you consider what you plant, think of He who died for thee.”

“Simple or Complex – Take Your Pick”

Tuesday, April 18th, 2006

The psychic diversity manifest in everyone as a unique creation of God can none the less reveal common symptoms from actions or inactions that keep psychologists and psychiatrists in the business of defining normalcy and assisting in modifying personal behaviors to conform.

But, for the rest of us there is this simple gospel realitySTANDARD WORKS STANDARDS WORK.

“Aviation Mystery: Who First Hovered?”

Tuesday, April 18th, 2006

The most difficult maneuver for an aircraft pilot to master is a steady hover.  Many aspire, but few can — flight schools wash out over 50%.  A rotorcraft is capable of flight in any direction – it can take off straight up or even backwards.  But, no less than 8-16 hours of dual instruction is needed before one acquires thehover bug.”  “The instructor will step out of the left seat and tell his scared to death student to “go solo.”  No atheist survives as God is fervently petitioned to “be my co-pilot and help me hover.”
Mastering a rotorcraft alone exhilarates even fair weather pilots.  The machine wants to fly apart, and will for the want of a single cotter pin or safety tie.  “Cheating death with every turn of the rotor blade” is just the beginning.  Add foul weather, mountain flying,  Nap Of the Earth navigation (180 mph at 3 feet above the deck), weapons and combat conditions – and multiply all these by systems failures.  Every moment you are (still) alive is exhilarating.
Harry Reasoner wrote:  “a helicopter does not want to fly.  It is maintained in the air by a variety of forces and controls working in opposition to each other, and if there is any disturbance in this delicate balance the helicopter stops flying, immediately and disastrously.”

Such is much of what day-to-day living is all about.  It matters not what direction or intensity the winds, we have to learn to keep straight, level, and controlled, doing the best with what we have.  Good instruction has to come from somewhere before you will ever learn to hover.  There is a commandment somewhere in all this:   “. . .be still (hover) and know that I am God.” (D&C 101:16).  Read the entire verse, and fly safe.
